MANILA, Philippines - The Manila City government on Tuesday said it has opened nominations for its search for 15 Outstanding Citizens.
The search committee chair Rafaelito Garayblas, secretary to Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, said the search is aimed at giving due recognition to the contributions made by outstanding citizens which have led to further development of the city.
Garayblas said that annual search for 15 Outstanding Manilans is the Manila City government's way of extending appreciation for the things they have done for the city and the country as a whole.
The search committee will be selecting awardees for the following categories:
• Education;
• Engineering and Construction;
• Entrepreneurial Leadership;
• Finance;
• Historical and Cultural Advocacy;
• Humanitarian Service;
• Journalism;
• Law;
• Medicine;
• Movie and Television Arts;
• Government Service;
• Science and Technology;
• Spiritual Leadership; and
• Sports and Statesmanship.
Those who will be chosen will be awarded during the Araw Ng Maynila on June 24. Organizers said deadline for submission of nominations is on May 14.
