FUNCTIONS

Grants or refuses municipal permit and licenses of all classes and revoke the same should violation of the stated conditions upon which they were granted are committed or for any other acts prohibited by law of municipal ordinance.

As mandated under the promotions of Republic Act No. 409, otherwise known as the Revised Charter of the City of Manila, the Bureau of Permits now called as the Business Promotion and Development Office function is stated under the Department Function (line 3, page 1 hereof).

Aside from the herein mentioned function, the department (BPDO) conducts or works for the following:

Processes, evaluates and adjudicates application for business, service personnel, original permit for storage of combustible materials, night parking, pedicabs, motorized tricycles, jeepneys, tricycles terminals and special permits;  

Supervises and controls the operation of business enterprises, corporation and public activities and to perform such other duties which will ensure dependable business services;  

Conducts field inspections on business establishment to determine compliance with existing laws and ordinances and their implementary regulations, and verifies public complaints and effect remedial measure thereon;  

Issues notices and/or closure orders to business establishment found needing certain requirements in their maintenance and operation, and to withdraw left such notices or closure orders issued if warranted, and;  

Furnishes the City Administration and the business community with meaningful statistics for their information and appropriate guidance.
