PRESS STATEMENT

MAYOR ALFREDO S. LIM

The nation agonizes and a part of the nation died with her because she's the epitome of righteousness, that is to do what is right and eliminate what is wrong. What she had been always thinking was for the highest interest and welfare of the country and the Filipino people.

Never had it entered her mind to pursue her own personal nor political interest. She sacrificed a lot for the good of the country. All the government officials and all other persons for that matter should emulate her sacrifice and example for the interest of the country.

As the nation and parts of the world mourn, we have to remember all she had done for us. We extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and relatives of President Corazon Aquino. She's our inspiration for being good, honest, and her exemplary governance must be made a good example and guide for the people especially the public officials.

She only died, but she'll never fade away. Let us give justice and meaning to her
death. I personally admire her for courageously standing up to what was right during the time of the Edsa Revolution. She faced the generals, military, and she never showed a single streak of fear. That's why everyone who participated in that historic expression of democracy followed her and were equally inspired.

We have conducted masses for her in Manila, hoping and waiting for a miracle to happen. But now that's she's gone and her sufferings have ended, her agony ceased, we know that God has a purpose for taking her into His arms.

We are very sad about losing her, yet at the same time relieved that she is no longer suffering from the extreme pain she had battled. Let us continue to pray for her, her soul, and for the family she had left. Let us pray for the nation that she had always had wished to be healed.

For me, she was the BEST PRESIDENT Philippines has ever had and the same will linger in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people..
